Through our upcycling efforts, we have incorporated acrylic to enhance the upper section of the wedding chest. Over time, the backboards of these chests tend to develop cracks due to the effects of drying. Instead of resorting to traditional wood repairs, we have opted to introduce vibrant acrylic elements, thereby infusing the chests with renewed value and aesthetic appeal.
 
Originally, Japanese chests were crafted from paulownia wood. By skillfully blending certain attributes inherited from paulownia, such as its lightweight nature and ease of processing, with the versatility of acrylic, we have created a new material fusion that bestows a fresh look upon the chests. We invite you to appreciate the striking contrast between the materials, with one being approximately 50 to 100 years old and the other representing the latest innovations in material composition.
 
[About Tansu]
Originally, during the early Edo period, chests of drawers were crafted.
As the economy flourished, the demand for chests gradually increased due to the rising number of kimonos. These chests were meticulously crafted by skilled artisans, using solid wood and adorned with intricate metal fittings. Each Tansu (chest of drawers) became a masterpiece, with the same level of quality today commanding prices ranging from several hundred thousand yen to several million yen. In those times, when a girl was born, a paulownia tree would be planted in the garden, later cut down and utilized to create a chest for the future bride.
However, these chests are somewhat oversized for modern living and are not commonly used today. Instead, they remain stored in repositories and warehouses. Our current endeavor is focused on revitalizing these chests, enabling them to once again serve a purpose in contemporary life.

    No. As soon as we receive the order, we will proceed to ship.

    - Is there anywhere you don't deliver, like P.O. boxes, specific states or countries?

    We will ship to the US domestic.
